Called Bedok Mall at approximately 13:15 on June 29, 2023. Answered by Alisa. She said there was limited stock of the Tencel super single set. So I rushed there and arrived around 13:30. Talked to her, but there was no eye contact. So I approached a Chinese salesgirl. She told me that someone had already bought it 5 minutes ago. All the sets were gone. That's illogical, and they were just liars. I asked for her name, but she refused to give it. I had to approach the Malay girl, and she was very defensive. Later, she gave her name. No integrity. Very upset. Please recruit better, quality staff with integrity, honesty, and responsibility. As salespeople, both Alisa and the Chinese girl should be more proactive and not ignore customers by keeping themselves busy with computers and counting stock. Just because I was wearing Bermuda shorts and sandals, they discriminated against me. This is what I observed and noticed. Very sad. No more Akemi Uchi in my household if you continue to employ this kind of people.

Bad service staff – the younger staff, while a little inexperienced, had a better attitude. The older Chinese staff ignored questions, refused to help check stock, and deliberately misheard what I was saying – probably because I was buying into her upsell. Will never buy Akemi again, totally disgusted by this type of service!!

We (my parents and I) just had a fantastic shopping experience at the Akemiuchi Bedok Mall outlet. We were attended by a joyful, energetic, and lovely lady called Has. She was able to listen to what we wanted, offer recommendations and alternatives. She was also very patient and slowly explained our doubts to us. We had originally wanted to buy only two items, but we ended up in such a good mood through interacting with Has that we walked away with eight items. Thanks, Has, for your time! Good job!

My wife is an avowed supporter of the brand Akemi and what their Tencel bedsheets stand for—superlative materials and quality workmanship. We stay in the West. Today we chanced upon this outlet at Bedok Mall and remembered we needed a spare set for a visitor. We decided on the $30 simple Queen-sized set—and it was a mistake. Things went south as we made the attempt to pay. First, the "blondie" who was attending to us decided to follow a young couple who "only buys Tencel." After the Tencel aficionado made their $299 purchase (less 20%, less 10%), we were asked pointedly why we were not members, repeatedly, as then "you don't get the 20%." Granted, she was trying to upsell or increase the basket size, but it was the tone and body language that made us realize our purchase was not Tencel. Nevertheless, we made the purchase. We are all for sustainability and quality. Lesson learned: don't queue up behind a big buyer.

I’m not sure why the reviews for Akemi are so low, as we had a great shopping experience! We were shopping for a birthday gift and were assisted really well by the staff. I prefer my shopping to be quick, decisive, and, of course, to include a good deal—and Akemi delivered on all fronts. Will definitely visit again!
